Recognising Young Energy Industry Leaders of the Future

The Energy 21C Conference Organising Committee has recognised that the current undergraduates, apprentices and recent graduates will be instrumental in the long term future of the energy network industry.

To this end the Energy 21C Conference will incorporate the following activities to specifically give future young leaders of the industry an opportunity to participate and suggest solutions for the future that will be theirs:

  • A complete session of Power Presentations (of 5 minutes duration) will be set aside for young people considering a future in the industry (eg power engineering undergraduate students) and recent graduates and apprentices who have been part of utility development programs.
  • A Plenary Session on the third day of Energy 21C will have the Challenge ‘THINK FUTURE – Describe the Energy Network Sector in 2050’ to which young leaders are requested to respond.

Up and coming future inventors, employees and leaders in industry and universities are requested to submit their response to this challenge by SUNDAY 19 JULY 2009

SUBMISSIONS ARE CLOSED

The responses submitted will be assessed by a panel of the Conference Program Committee based on the following criteria:

  • Originality and creativity of the vision proposed (this to  be outlined in an essay with a maximum 4000 words);
  • Proposed presentation approach to engage the audience (maximum 10 minutes);
  • Alignment with conference focus areas of: Customers – Climate Change – Networks – Competencies; and
  • A maximum of 6 presenters shall be chosen.

Presenters selected will receive complimentary registration for this day of the conference.

  • An award will be made at Energy 21C to a young member of the industry who has been involved in an organising capacity or through excellence in a presentation to the conference; and
  • Invitations will be sent to utility and manufacturer/supplier organisations and university power engineering heads of school.

The Organising Committee will be working with universities, utilities, manufacturers and suppliers to the industry to encourage participation by young people at Energy 21C.
